Emancipation

The film follows Peter’s harrowing journey, as he traverses hundreds of miles with the help of a network of abolitionists, including Grant (Ben Foster), a Union major. Along the way, Peter faces danger every step of the way and learns to rely on his own strength and courage as he strives for freedom.

Will Smith stars as Peter and Ben Foster plays Grant, with a supporting cast that includes Charmaine Bingwa, Gilbert Owuor, Mustafa Shakir, Steven Ogg, Grant Harvey, Ronnie Gene Blevins, Jayson Warner Smith, Jabbar Lewis, Michael Luwoye, Aaron Moten and Imani Pullum.

Directed by Antoine Fuqua, known for his work on “Training Day” and “The Equalizer,” the movie is produced by Westbrook Studios, McFarland Entertainment and Escape Artists. Will Smith, Jon Mone, Joey McFarland and Todd Black serve as producers; executive producers are Chris Brigham, Antoine Fuqua, James Lassiter, Heather Washington, Cliff Roberts, Glen Basner and Scott Greenberg.
